Laser Therapy

What is Cold Laser Therapy?

The term cold laser refers to the use of low-intensity or low levels of laser light. Cold laser therapy works by stimulating cells to better respond to stress and injury. The damaged cells stimulated by the laser might produce more proteins and anti-inflammatory chemicals to promote healing.

It is a highly effective, non-surgical treatment for low back, neck pain, disc pain, soft tissue injuries, chronic pain, joint conditions, arthritis and inflammatory conditions.

Low level laser therapy is a simple and painless physical modality that emits photons (light energy) in very specific regions of the electromagnetic spectrum. Cold laser therapy is the most researched and published modality in physical medicine. Studies have demonstrated benefits that include relieving muscular and joint pain and stiffness, relaxation of muscle spasms and increasing local blood circulation.

With its 2000 millwatts of pure infrared power, the Apollo laser is the most effective, portable therapeutic laser on the market today. Treatment times vary based on the type of injury as well as the size of the area to be treated, but most treatments are often less than 1 to 2 minutes, delivering phenomenal results quickly.

Low level laser therapy is safe because cells have a natural ability to resist over-stimulation. It is not possible to harm tissue by overdosing.

It is an FDA-cleared procedure that is covered by many insurance companies as well as workers compensation and personal injury/auto insurance in Florida.

Therapeutic laser therapy can be used to safely and effectively treat the following conditions:

  • Low back, neck and disc pain
  • Chronic pain
  • Acute (traumatic) pain
  • Tendonitis
  • Pain associated with osteoarthritis
  • Bursitis
  • Sports Injuries
  • Strains/Sprains
  • Painful trigger points
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Golfer's and tennis elbow
  • Plantar fascitis
  • TMJ (Jaw) disorders
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Rheumatoid arthritis

Pain relief
Stimulates release of the body's own pain killing chemicals such as endorphins and enkephalins from the brain, adrenal glands and other areas.

Rapid cell growth
Accelerated cellular reproduction and growth.

Increased metabolic and vascular activity
Higher outputs of specific enzymes, greater oxygen and nutrient delivery to blood cells and more effective immune response as well as stimulating blood and lymph circulation.

Reduce scar tissue formation
Improves quality of scar tissue following tissue damage from cuts, scratches, burns, post-surgery or adhesions.

Anti-inflammatory action
Reduces swelling caused by bruising or inflammation to improve joint mobility.

Stimulated nerve function
Speeds process of nerve cell reconnection to bring numb areas back to life as well as increasing amplitudes of action potentials to optimize muscle function.
